About Yellow Heart Committee
Yellow Heart Committee (YHC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization mobilizing to support the holistic mental health of trauma survivors through policy advocacy, education, and community outreach. This is achieved through our pillars of HEART: Healing, Empowerment, Advocacy, Relationships, and Therapy. Project Summary
We believe that through inclusive, digestible, and relatable mental health education, we can empower future generations to take charge of their personal and communal mental health standards. This will help guide us towards a future where mental health is treated with appropriate attention and care, and earnest dialogues are practiced and participated in through good faith.
Creating a generic curriculum for mental health that targets adolescents in California.
The curriculum will ensure that adolescents have a greater understanding of the following topics:
1. Overview of mental health, emotional health, and mental illness
2. Facts, statistics, myths, and stigmas surrounding mental health
3. Real world applications
4. Promoting & Maintaining Healthy Relationships
5. Strategies & Resources for coping with mental health struggles
Our curriculum plans to address the subjects guided by our pillars of H.E.A.R.T, which are Healing, Empowerment, Advocacy, Relationships, and Therapy.
Curriculum designers are expected to meet benchmarks to complete the curriculum by the end of the project timeline.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct research and collaborate with educators, subject experts, policymakers, and other professionals to develop quality curricula and learning resources
Establish feasible timeframes to achieve the goals and objectives outlined in the curriculum
Create stimulating lesson plans and recommend interesting additional resources
Develop a range of digital resources to optimize classroom learning and ensure ongoing learning outside of formal settings
Create supplementary teacher and student guides, as well as resource packs
Expand networks of curriculum designers, educators, and other professionals
Collect feedback from students, teachers, and clients
Monitor student progress and make relevant changes to curriculums
Collaborate with other writers, graphic designers, and web designers to create new learning resources
Set up tests, exams, and other formal and informal assessments to gauge the effectiveness of curriculums.
Qualifications
Top candidates for this role must have:
At least 1 year of curriculum building experience
A bachelor's degree
Analytical
Computer-literate
Able to collaborate with multiple individuals at varying levels
Effective in written communication
Able to establish effective working relationships with teachers and school administrators
Creative
A leader
Experience working in or with schools and/or school systems and/or the orgs that support schools (districts, state agencies, nonprofits, charter management orgs, etc.)
Individually manage their own resources and time to deliver client-ready work
Operationalize a scope of work (e.g. take big goals and objectives and create a concrete plan)
Preferred candidates will:
Hold or working towards an advanced degree in a related field
