Yellow Heart Committee (YHC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization mobilizing to support the holistic mental health of trauma survivors through policy advocacy, education, and community outreach. This is achieved through our pillars of HEART: Healing, Empowerment, Advocacy, Relationships, and Therapy.  Director of Development

The Director of Development is responsible for raising enough money to meet Yellow Heart Committee’s financial goals, forecasting future income and gathering feedback from donors. The Director of Development works closely with the executive team to attract attention from potential supporters and partners. The Director of Development creates and implements a development plan that details how the organization solicits donors and identifies funding sources such as grants, in-kind donations, charitable events and marketing opportunities. 

Duties included but not limited to: 

  • Lead and support the fundraising goals and activities within our strategic plan

  • Plan and execute all elements of the annual campaign and the comprehensive campaign

  • Work with the CEO to prepare and implement an annual development budget, plan, and development calendar.

  • Assume primary responsibility for identifying and researching potential funding sources, proposal preparation, final reports, and reports to funders.

  • Actively participate in the Annual Gala (Bougie Brunch) planning and other events.

  • Work with staff and Board to develop long-range development plans to meet future needs, including a comprehensive campaign.

  • Attend periodic evening and weekend events, as needed, and with advance notice.

  • Works closely with grant writer to apply for grants that will increase YHC’s functional capacity

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in areas such as marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field of study.

  • At least 1 year of fundraising experience.

  • An understanding of the five main elements of a development program: annual giving, major and planned giving, development operations, donor relations, and development communications.

  • Leadership skills and an ability to coach and mentor staff, board members, and volunteers in achieving philanthropic goals.

  • Exemplary oral, written, and public speaking communication skills.

  • The ability to work effectively with local officials, property owners, business, and leaders in the non-profit space
